Static pressure represents the resistance that a fan must overcome to move air through extraction hoods, baffles, filtration systems, and ductwork. In restaurant hoods, grease filters and electrostatic precipitators create substantial drag. Using a fan with inadequate static pressure ratings leads to extraction failure, grease backup, and excessive odor leakage. Heavy centrifugal models like our SRF and 9-19A series are designed to maintain high flow velocities against substantial system resistance.
Forward-curved impellers offer higher volumes of air at low speeds, making them quieter in clean air scenarios. However, their blade cup geometry traps grease particles rapidly, causing unbalance, motor burnouts, and loud vibration.
